FELLOWSHIPS & Travel Grants

ISA 2018, along with IAS, provide younger, upcoming researchers a prestigious platform from which to launch or progress their international careers. A strong contingent of senior scientists is engaged to interact with and mentor the next generation. This interaction will be a source of great inspiration and encouragement, and will ultimately strengthen research in the field.

 


 

Young Investigator Fellowships

As a measure of the Society’s commitment, ISA is offering Young Investigator Fellowships to selected abstract and oral communication presenters aged 35 or under on a competitive basis.

These awards are designed to give young investigators, working in the field of atherosclerosis, the opportunity to present their research at the premier international meeting atherosclerosis. The awards will be given to successful applicants with the top abstract scores who meet the criteria below.

Young Investigator Fellowships for ISA 2018 Toronto include:

  • Complimentary Congress registration to ISA 2018 Toronto
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events: Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening
  • A grant (up to $500) towards travel & accommodation at ISA 2018.

Application Criteria for ISA 2018 Toronto:

  • Applicants must apply by January 14, 2018 via the abstract submission system by ticking the Young Investigator Fellowship box.
  • Recipients must have an accepted abstract for presentation at ISA 2018.
  • To be eligible to be considered for an award the applicant must be a young investigator (born after 31 December 1982) working in the field of atherosclerosis.
  • The award of the Fellowships is at the discretion of the organisers. The recipients of the Young Investigator Fellowship will be decided by the ISA Award Committee from the abstracts selected following the abstract review.

Notifications will be sent out by April 1, 2018.

 



IAS Travel Grants

These grants are awarded to selected presenters of poster or oral presenters who live and work in countries where funding for travel to international meetings is difficult to obtain.

These grants are designed to give investigators from developing countries, working in the field of atherosclerosis, the opportunity to present their research at the premier international meeting atherosclerosis.

IAS Travel Grants for ISA 2018 Toronto include:

  • Complimentary Congress registration to ISA 2018 Toronto
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events: Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening
  • A grant (up to $1000) towards travel & accommodation at ISA 2018.

Application Criteria for ISA 2018 Toronto:

  • Applicants must apply by January 14, 2018 via the abstract submission system by ticking the IAS Travel Grant box.
  • Applicants must provide a copy of their passport from a developing country. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of the grant funding.
  • Recipients must have an accepted abstract for presentation at ISA 2018.
  • The award of the Grant is at the discretion of the organisers. The recipients of the IAS Travel Grant will be decided by the ISA Award Committee from the abstracts selected following the abstract review.

Notifications will be sent out by April 1, 2018.

 


 

CSATVB Young Investigator Travel Subsidy Award

These Trainee Awards recognize the scientific work of talented trainees. CSATVB Young Investigator Travel Subsidy Awards will consist of $500/trainee. The award is meant to offset registration/travel/accommodation costs to attend the 2018 CSTAVB annual meeting at the International Symposium on Atherosclerosis (ISA 2018) in Toronto (June 9-12, 2018).

Travel Subsidy Awards will be presented to the top 30 CSATVB trainee abstracts as ranked by the ISA Abstract Review Committee.

The Young Investigator Travel Subsidy Award includes:

  • Congress registration for ISA 2018
  • Complimentary airfare within Canada only
  • Ground Transportation transfers
  • Complimentary Accommodation up to 3 nights' stay
  • Meal per diems

Eligibility and Criteria:

The applicant must be:

  • Be in attendance at ISA 2018, and present, as first author, a poster/talk detailing the submitted abstract.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted through the on-line ISA website (www.ISA2018.org).
  • A trainee who is enrolled in a recognized program such as MD, residency, fellowship, MSc, PhD, post-doctoral fellowship (within three years of receiving his doctoral degree), at a Canadian university
  • A trainee who has applied for membership to CSATVB by 14 Jan 2018 and is in good standing. 
  • The supervisor supporting an application for an award must already be a regular CSATVB member in good standing. 
  • A maximum of two eligible trainees per lab will receive travel subsidies.
  • Trainees must meet all the criteria to be eligible for the Young Investigator Award and the Travel Subsidy.
